A weekend of burnt meat

Yesterday was the first day in years in which all my meals were prepared on a blazing fire. It was a great fun CSA beach day/night. Here are some event highlights:

  • Finding an abandoned boat shaped fort made out of driftwood logs

  • Playing baseball with a gnarled chunk of driftwood and very brittle rocks until the bat finally broke

  • Digging a hole

  • Pickup game of beach football in which almost everyone was injured

  • Soaking the big log in lighter fluid and then attempting to burn it

  • The beach patrol descending upon us to check for alcohol, only to tell us that we must bring alcohol next time. "the party doesn't get started until the alcohol arrives"

Studying and Exercise

Hey everyone. I'm taking a short leave of absence from work to get my act together for my last pass at exams, which means I have loads of time on my hands. As a result, the blog is back! yes, I know how excited you all must be.

In addition to blogging in my free time, I'm also exercising again. I just roller bladed most of the Coyote Creek Parkway trail down in the southern part of San Jose. It was one of the most strenuous 2 hour work outs I've ever had. I learned a valuable lesson.. bring water. I was getting close to dehydration sickness on the last 2 mile leg.

The Coyote Creek Parkway is a great trail. It is in a bit less dense of an area, so it reminds me a lot of the Boise Green Belt trail, but hotter and with more wildlife. It was mid day and yet I still saw hundreds of tiny rodents, a few small snakes, and even a frigging 1 year old or so mountain lion!. In addition to that, i heard my first rattler. Very exciting. It's a long drive from home, but I think I'll end up returning on occasion.

In other news, the Miata is dying. It's very sad. It's making this clump-clump-clump sound now that happens with every revolution of the wheels. I cant figure out what it is. I guess I'll put it up on jack stands tomorrow and crawl under to see if I can better diagnose it.

Well that's all for now. bye!
