Just Plain Simple Corruption
I used to be an independent. I used to watch the political scene and make my judgments for any action or vote on a case by case basis. I didn't hold political grudges. Maybe this is just a sign of getting older, but I just changed.
I maintained my political party agnosticism through all of the following:
- An unwinnable war based on false intelligence
- Congress taking action on what's very clearly a state matter: Terri Schiavo
- A presidency that is the most antagonistic to science in the history of the United States
- any many others...
But now the current presidential administration has gone too far. Bush has basically pardoned Libby. A man that the court system decided should go to jail, will now be set free. I guess the republican party, the origin of the war on drugs, is hard on crime, unless it's them committing it. This hypocrisy and obvious corruption is the last straw. I'll never vote Republican again.
Although I'm not part of any party by this declaration, I'm not really neutral independent either. Since I need a label, to play in the political world, I'm going to start calling myself unrepublican until I can think of a funny name that won't put me on the Secret Service's radar.
